Dr Jayashree Bhattacharya

Dr. Jayashree Bhattacharya spent over two decades in Britain as Senior Consultant Gynæcologist for the Bourn Hall Clinic, and Honorary Lecturer for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynæcology of Cambridge University. She established the first IVF Centre in Eastern India at the Institute of Reproductive Medicine in Kolkata, in 1990, and started the first unit of AHIIRC in 1998 in Ranchi, Jharkhand.

She completed her MBBS and MD from University of Ranchi in 1970 and 1972, respectively. IVF, IUI, ICSI, embryo transfer, infertility evaluation, gynecological problems and high risk pregnancy care being some of her specializations. Her first successful IVF procedure was in 1979 which she performed with Dr. Patrick Steptoe and Sir Robert Edwards. She spent over two years in Britain as a Senior Consultant Gynaecologist in Bourn Hall Clinic and became the Honorary Lecturer for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Cambridge University. She is also a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists -London , 1979. With vast expertise in infertility treatments, she performed her first successful IVF procedure in 1978.
